Campagne de recherche de la Fondation Cotrel causes et mécanismes d'évolution de la scoliose idopathique
The Fondation Yves Cotrel – Institut de France has chosen to focus its action on a precise research topic and to support resarch programs throughout the world the most promising ones which could not be undertaken otherwise.
 
Scolisis is a lateral deviation of the spine. It is named "idiopathic" when it is not part of an identified disease. It is a torsion of the main elements of the spine. It may incur dramatic morphological, pysiological or psychological consequences.
 
In France, this disease affects 0,5 % children and represents 70 % of structural scolioses. Its apparition and evolution evolution most likely do not have a unique origin.
They result from a combinaison of causes which happen in the most impredictable way.
